Noida International Airport Launch: What makes April 17 a vital deadline?

Send Push
Noida International Airport is set to commence commercial flights for both domestic and international routes starting April 17 next year. This decision was finalised during a high-level meeting led by Noida International Airport Ltd ( NIAL), the government’s special purpose vehicle overseeing the project.

At the meeting, Yamuna International Airport Ltd ( YIAPL), a subsidiary of Swiss company Zurich AG, presented a detailed timeline highlighting key clearances needed for the airport’s launch.

NIAL CEO Arun Vir Singh stated, "The concessionaire has submitted a plan to start commercial operations by April 17. But we will try to bring the launch date forward. The timeline is crucial because any deviation from the April 17 deadline could result in a further six-month delay.”

Initially, the airport — the second in the Delhi-NCR region — was slated to open by the end of September this year, with plans for up to 65 daily flights: 62 on domestic routes, two for international destinations and a cargo flight.
