Send Push

Match 41 of IPL 2025 saw MI thrash SRH by seven wickets to win with 28 balls left. Rohit Sharma hit his second straight half century as he made a brilliant 46-ball 70 to help MI seal a crucial victory. SRH’s campaign continued its poor show as they lost yet another game.

But the most interesting moment came during SRH’s innings in the first ball of the third over. It was the wicket of Ishan Kishan who fell to Deepak Chahar. But the manner of the dismissal left people wondering what was going on.

What Really Happened?

So what happened? Well, the first ball of the third over went down the leg side from Chahar and Ishan played at it. The keeper took the ball and appealed followed by a half-hearted appeal by the bowler. The umpire looked set to signal wide but changed it to out when he saw Ishan walking.

MI skipper Hardik Pandya was seen patting Ishan on the head for his sporting spirit. But replays showed there was no spike when the ball passed the bat. That suggested Ishan had not hit the ball at all. This now led to even further confusion as to whether Ishan was out at all to begin with. Take a look at what happened and judge for yourself:

The internet was not in a forgiving mood as many people said it was fixed. They pointed out that the umpire and batter were part of the script that they seemed to have forgotten momentarily. Ishan walking without a fuss may have been sportsman spirit but to the internet, it looked suspicious.

Social media was buzzing with reactions and there were a lot of opinions. What did people have to say? Have a look at the reactions:

Despite this weird wicket, SRH were able to recover from 35/5 to 143/8. But a target of 144 was not enough to prevent a win for MI. The win takes MI to third place with five wins in nine games. SRH are in ninth place with two victories in eight matches.

Playoffs Scenario

Even now, with 29 games remaining, all 10 teams are in contention for the top four spots. GT and DC are first and second respectively while RCB are fourth. CSK are in last position and PBKS, LSG, KKR and RR are fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth respectively. Match 42 will see RCB take on RR. Who will lift the trophy on May 25? Will we have a new champion? Only time will tell!
