If you use an Amazon Fire TV Stick to stream Netflix, you may soon face some problems. Starting June 2, 2025, support for streaming apps on some older Fire TV Stick models will end, including Netflix. This means that users of these older devices will not be able to use Netflix after that date. The affected devices include the 2014 Amazon Fire TV, the 2014 Fire TV Stick, and the 2016 Fire TV Stick that comes with the Alexa Voice Remote.
Netflix will end app support on some devices:
Netflix has notified Amazon Fire TV users that it will end app support on some devices. According to Tom’s Guide, if you have a first-generation Fire TV streaming device or a Fire TV Stick and its remote, the Netflix app will end support on June 2.
Why is the service being shut down on these devices?
Netflix has not yet given an official reason for shutting down the app, but analysts believe it may be due to improvements in streaming technology, especially the adoption of the AV1 codec, which delivers better video quality in less bandwidth. Netflix has released a list of exciting content for June 2025, which includes classic films, new series, documentaries, and favorite shows.
