Aadhaar card is one of the most widely used identity documents in India. From accessing government schemes to banking services and everyday verification, Aadhaar is an essential requirement. Until now, most people downloaded their Aadhaar card from the UIDAI website or the DigiLocker app. But now, there’s an even simpler method—downloading your Aadhaar directly through WhatsApp.
Thanks to the government’s official MyGov Helpdesk chatbot, you can securely access your Aadhaar card on WhatsApp without installing any additional apps. This service makes the process faster, safer, and more convenient. Here’s a detailed step-by-step guide.
What You Need to Download Aadhaar on WhatsAppBefore you start, make sure you have the following:
-
A mobile number linked to your Aadhaar card
-
A DigiLocker account (if you don’t have one, you can easily create it through the DigiLocker website or mobile app)
-
The official MyGov Helpdesk WhatsApp number saved in your phone: +91-9013151515
Save the official number
Save 9013151515 on your phone contacts under the name MyGov Helpdesk.
Start a WhatsApp chat
Open WhatsApp, find the saved contact, and start a conversation by sending “Hi” or “Namaste.”
Select DigiLocker services
The chatbot will provide different options. Choose DigiLocker Services.
Confirm your DigiLocker account
The chatbot will ask if you already have a DigiLocker account. If not, create one first through the DigiLocker portal or app.

Type in your 12-digit Aadhaar number when prompted.
Verify with OTP
An OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number. Enter the OTP in the chat.
View available documents
Once verified, the chatbot will show you a list of documents stored in DigiLocker.
Select Aadhaar card
To download Aadhaar, type the number shown next to it in the list.
Get Aadhaar in PDF format
Your Aadhaar card will be instantly delivered as a PDF file directly in your WhatsApp chat.
-
You can download only one document at a time.
-
Only documents already linked to DigiLocker will be available in the WhatsApp chatbot.
-
If Aadhaar or any other document is not showing, you first need to link it with DigiLocker through the website or mobile app.
The ability to download Aadhaar on WhatsApp is a big step toward making digital services more accessible. For millions of people, WhatsApp is easier to use compared to visiting websites or installing separate apps. With this update, accessing Aadhaar becomes as simple as sending a message.
The service also ensures secure document delivery since it uses DigiLocker integration, OTP-based verification, and the official government WhatsApp chatbot. This means your Aadhaar information stays safe while being easily accessible when you need it.
