WhatsApp New Feature 2025: WhatsApp introduced the voice message transcription feature on its platform in November 2024. Now after about five months, the company is preparing to make some important changes to this feature, in which users will be given more control. This new update is currently being tested on iPhones.
New options will be available in the voice message transcription feature.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on new controls for iPhone users, allowing them to decide when and which voice messages they want transcription of.
As of now, when this feature is on, the transcription of every voice message appears automatically. But after this new update, users will have the option to get the transcription of every voice message automatically or manually choose which message needs transcription.
The new button will be available in manual mode.
When a user chooses manual mode, he will see a new button in the voice message bubble. By tapping this button, he will be able to get the transcription of that particular voice message.
Privacy and Security
The report also states that this feature is being developed for iPhones running on iOS 16 and above. Like all other WhatsApp features, it also supports end-to-end encryption. In terms of privacy, users' voice messages are not uploaded to any external server, but transcription is done through Apple's on-device language models.
As far as the availability of the feature is concerned, the report states that this new control has been made available to some beta users through Apple's TestFlight app and more beta users may get this feature in the coming days. However, the company has not yet said when this feature will be rolled out to all users.
