Watch Liam Payne's first ever meeting with Cheryl aged 14 including that cheeky wink

The death of continues to send shockwaves across the globe after the 31-year-old singer was found dead at his hotel in Argentina last night.

Liam sadly passed away after falling from a third floor hotel room in and suffering “severe injuries which were incompatible with life.” City ambulance spokesman Alberto Crescenti said the singer had fallen around 40 metres before his body was found in an internal patio of the hotel.

The singer leaves behind a seven-year-old son, Bear, whom he shares with ex-partner and popstar Cheryl. Before his rise to global stardom as one-fifth of the UK’s biggest boyband, Liam auditioned for the as a solo act in 2008, aged just fourteen.

It was at this audition that he first met future beau , who was a judge on the show. Cheryl, then 24, was married to footballer Ashley Cole, but would later become Liam’s girlfriend and give birth to their son, Bear Payne.

Liam confidently belted out his rendition of Frank Sinatra’s Fly Me to the Moon as Cheryl, and watched on in awe. In the middle of his audition, Liam gave Cheryl a little wink, which appeared to massively impress her.

She told a then-teenage Liam: "I like you, I think you're really cute. I think you've got charisma - you give us that little cheeky wink," before putting him through to the next round.

The pair’s relationship became official years after garnered unparalleled fame as the one of the world's biggest boybands. Their romance began in 2015, when Cheryl was 32 and Liam was 22.

During this time, Liam and Cheryl welcomed a baby boy named Bear Grey Payne. Announcing the news on , Liam wrote: "I’m incredibly happy to welcome our new baby boy into the , it’s a moment that I will never forget for the rest of my life and my favourite memory I have so far."

The pair made a conscious effort to keep Bear out of the spotlight, with Cheryl telling British Vogue she wanted Bear to have a "normal childhood".

In a touching interview two years ago, Liam gushed over the youngster, and told how he was appreciative of the time he got to spend with him. Liam said: "Time with Bear has been really, really great, honestly. More than anything I want to say thank you to him and his mum for giving me a little bit of freedom to go and get well in that moment because I had to."

He later said of Bear in a YouTube video: "I kind of feel I’ve got more of a grip on life now, he’s awesome. He’s growing up far too quickly, it’s a lot of fun to be around to watch him grow".

Cheryl is yet to speak out on Liam's sudden and heartbreaking death.
