'Three deals I'd pick as a tech editor if you're pre-ordering the iPhone 16 today'

Send Push

After days of anticipation, Apple's newest iPhone 16 range is finally available to pre-order in the UK as retailers including Sky Mobile, EE, O2, Three, Vodafone (and more) launch their wave of deals. As many flurry in, there's three that stand out.

If you're looking to buy an iPhone 16 model today - there is of course the bigger iPhone 16 plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max too but we'll get to these later. These retailers are currently offering the best perks.

iD Mobile, Sky Mobile, and O2 are the ones you'll want to check out first, and for some very big money-saving reasons. Apple's newest standard iPhone 16 starts at £799 and can currently be pre-ordered from the store, but without mobile data it won't be for everyone.

As someone with a keen eye for money and the latest tech, I've scoured all of the incoming pre-order deals and varying prices, contract lengths and upfront costs to help you pick the best and best value for money deal - with extra perks for some existing customers.

Sky from £26 per month, best for half-price data

Sky is at the top of my list thanks to its sneaky, but welcomed, half-price data deal which you can bundle in with your fancy new iPhone 16. The provider's iPhone 16 plans start at £26, and those clued up with its pricing will know that this is the price for only the handset...data is added on top.

Its eye-catching data offer means it's offering unlimited data for only £25 per month, a huge drop from its usual £40 rate. This can be paired with the £26 per month device cost to come to a combined £51 total - which isn't awful for an unlimited data Sky plan.

The cheapest data amount you can pair with the iPhone 16 is the £5 5GB data, which ups to £10 after the first 12 months. At first this would bring the total handset and data contract price to only £31 per month, with no upfront fee.

Just remember, all Sky Mobile plans are actually 36-months long. Some users may be confused as it states a 24-month mobile term, but this is the period after which you can swap your device for another one, you'll need to pay for 36 months overall.

iD Mobile £37.99 for iPhone 16 and unlimited data

Now, hold onto your hats, this really does beat Sky's £51 unlimited data price and its affordable iD Mobile plan is second on our list. At less than £40 per month for unlimited, data, texts and the 128GB iPhone 16 it's one to take a look at.

It's been flagged by provider Mobiles.co.uk, who scour the online deals, so you'll have to scroll down to the middle of the list to find it, but worth the leg work. It's £1.99 more expensive per month than Vodafone's matching unlimited data iPhone 16 plan but a closer look shows why you'd pick the iD Mobile plan.

Both come with relatively hefty upfront costs, but iD Mobile's £99 fee feels cheap compared to Vodafone's staggering £195 one. I know which one I'd pick.

O2, average iPhone 16 prices but huge broadband speed boost image

Now, we have to be clear O2's iPhone 16 prices are mediocre, it's not the most expensive I've seen but £49.21 per month for the device and only 25GB of data is, well, not great. However, anyone with an existing Virgin Media broadband contract will get a surprise speed boost.

So, if that's you then read on. Those that have Virgin Media broadband in their home, they can connect their two accounts and get Volt perks. Anything from a broadband speed boost - those signed up to a M250 plan will get M350 at no extra cost - and a choice of £100 credits back for Wi-Fi users.

You can also get double mobile data on all eligible O2 mobile plans in the household so, if you have 10GB as part of your mobile plan, you'll get a boost to 20GB data for no extra cost.

These are only our top three picks of course other retailers, including upfront deals like Amazon and Currys, are offering varying deals so it's worth look. If you're not an Apple fan than don't worry as Samsung is making moves this week too with its free Chromebook laptop for Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra shoppers.
