With the promise of much colder temperatures heading our way over the next few weeks, we’re all looking for ways to keep warm. Although of course we could be cranking the heating up each night, the thought of sky high energy bills is enough to make anyone think twice before they dial up the thermostat.

As said, the best way to keep your costs down in winter is to heat the human, not the home, and in order to do exactly that, there’s one product I could not live without. The has been a saviour for the chilly nights, and it’s kept me so warm that I’ve still not had to turn my heating on, despite the single digit temperatures outside.

Priced at £60, the more than pays for itself after just a few uses, as it eliminates the need to have your heating on at all, and it costs pennies to run compared to expensive heating costs. All you need to do is plug it in, and you can use it just about anywhere, whether you’re curled up on the sofa, as an extra heated layer in bed, or even draped over yourself whilst working from home.

It has nine different heat settings which range from 1-3 for low heat, 4-6 for medium heat and 7-9 for high heat. Personally I’ve never found I had to go up to the high heat category, as the medium is for a night on the sofa.

On the first use you do need to let it heat up for around an hour on setting nine before it reaches its optimum temperature. But after that it only takes between 15 and 20 minutes to warm up – just enough time to make yourself a hot drink for your cosy night in.

There is no timer setting, as the blanket automatically switches off after two hours of use, however if you want it on for longer just reset it and it’ll start running again. The is just the right size for a single person, measuring 120cm by 160cm, and is just as cosy as a regular blanket with a soft flannel fleece that’s thick and warm even before you turn the temperature on.

It’s also – very handy for households with pets or children. You just need to detach the wire and put it in the washing machine to give it a freshen up.

Amazon shoppers have also given it a , with one saying: “I purchased 2 of these one for myself and one for the wife. We use these as ever increasing heating costs and loosing the Winter Fuel subsidy as a throw and leave the heating off. They are big enough to throw over yourself and within 10 minutes you are as snug as a bug in a rug. They only cost pennies to run and can be washed and it's not long before you are switching them off and you stay warm for nothing, turn them back on and you can control how warm you want to be. Saving money already so glad we purchased them.”

Whilst another added: “Nice and warm, I’d prefer other colours but good to have 3 year guarantee.”

You can pick up the from Amazon for £59.99 or from the for £60.

Elsewhere, Debenhams has slashed the price of its reversible from £74.98 to £34.81. It’s made from a soft faux fur material and comes in four different colours and measures 160cm by 130cm. It also costs approximately 3p an hour to run.
