Supervet's Noel Fitzpatrick recalled a hilarious story from his book during Thursday's episode of Lorraine.

The TV vet, 56, was on the sofa to discuss his new autobiography, Dogs and Their Humans: Stories of Healing and Hope from the Supervet's Surgery. The book details his lengthy career as a vet and includes anecdotes along the way.

Talking about various stories in the book, guest host, Christine Lampard, said: "You talk as well about some , they're innocent detectives", adding: "This comes to affairs basically and how dogs can catch you out not meaning to but they can!"

This prompted Noel to explain: "Dogs reveal the inner essence of ourselves, whether we're being honest or not honest. Those who know me skip the introduction because that's just a bit about me to introduce me, and go straight to chapter one. Right, Christine? It's funny, it's sit on your sofa and laugh time!"

Recalling the story, Noel said: "There's this cocky guy who comes into my clinic," to which Christine interjected with: "And we change names and everything, just to be clear?" with Noel insisting: "We changed names to protect the innocent or not so innocent in all of the book, the names are changed for obvious reasons!

"Cocky guy comes in, driving his Bentley, his wife, his very attractive wife, gets out of the car carrying a West Highland White Terrier, attempting to vomit. So I induce the dog to vomit whatever it was going to vomit.

"The West Highland White Terrier vomited up a red suspender belt on the grass, the wife looked down and said: 'That's not mine!'... divorced and his Bentley was gone!", adding: "Dogs tell the truth!"

Noel's new autobiography was released on Thursday, 24 October, and a synopsis teases: "When people come to see Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick at his referral hospital, they are in desperate need of his help.

"No matter who they are – a serving member of the military, a young boy whose dog is his best friend, a couple at a crossroads – they all have one thing in common: hope that Noel may be able to heal their animal companion.

"In his thirty years as a vet, Noel has seen people from all walks of life come through his doors. And through stories of his cases, he shares his unique perspective on our often hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking relationship with dogs.

"Filled with warmth, love and characters from Thor the Pyrenean Mountain Dog to Bertie the Pomeranian, with every shape and size in between, this is a celebration of our connection with man’s best friend."

Lorraine continues on weekdays at 9am on both ITV and ITV X.
