Reality TV star Maura Higgins told fans earlier this week that she had become "stranded" in London, with her saying that it was due to her car having ended up "on fire" in the city.

Maura, 33 - who rose to fame on Love Island in 2019 - took to her Instagram Story to share the update recently. She posted a photo showing the interior of a Range Rover, with part of the steering wheel and digital display visible.

Alongside the photo from inside the vehicle, as reported by the Daily Mail, the presenter wrote in the post on Friday: "When your car goes on fire in the middle of London. Been here for over 2 hours now … Also car just had a service & MOT 2 weeks ago so that's nice!! .... stranded Higgins GOD I LOVE RANGE ROVERS!!!!!"

The post appears to have now expired from her Story. Maura isn't believed to have yet shared any further update about the vehicle with her followers on the platform.

The post comes following speculation in recent weeks of a potential romance between Maura and fellow reality TV star Pete Wicks, 36, who is competing on this year's Strictly Come Dancing. The rumour began circulating when they were spotted having a "passionate" kiss last month in London. Body language commentator Judi James told the Mirror at the time that they appeared "equally smitten".

Maura then risked fuelling the speculation just days later when she left a 'cheeky' reply over the news that Pete had signed up for the new series of Strictly. Reacting to his involvement, she appeared to poke fun at the rumours circling them by teasing: "I know what those hips can do. Proud of you."

More recently, Maura again appeared to poke fun at the speculation when she was gifted a t-shirt that had a picture of her kissing Pete on the front. She's thought to have received the top, which had "we can't be friends" written above the photo, from Pete's pal Sam Thompson, 32, amid their podcast Staying Relevant's tour. Maura was seen wearing the top in a photo later shared on social media following an event.

It wasn't just on the podcast tour that Maura showed her support for former the Only Way is Essex cast member Pete. She also supported him earlier this month over the release of his memoir Never Enough: My Words Unfiltered, which explores themes like mental health. She shared Pete's post on her Instagram account, writing alongside a link for purchasing options of the book: "Proud of you." Maura also responded in the comments section of Pete's post, with her having shared a series of emojis depicting clapping hands. Pete liked the comment and replied with an emoji blowing a kiss.
