Liverpool team vs Wolves predicted as Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota decisions made

Liverpool made nine changes to its starting XI against West Ham United midweek and something similar can be expected later today as Arne Slot takes his side to Wolves for the first time.

"That's the positive thing about playing so many games; these players will always play a lot of games," Slot said during his Friday press conference. "I think they understand they can't play every game unless it's absolutely necessary to keep them fit and sharp and to keep them ready to perform like they do.

"As long as they accept the situation as it is — and that is what they are doing at the moment because they have good numbers and I see them smile a lot as well — then it's a very positive thing for us. That's also one of the things of my job – I have to keep them alert and happy in the position they are in."

Alisson Becker is set to be fit again after missing the last couple of matches with an injury. And Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson are likely to be restored in front of him.

In midfield, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai are likely to be the trio picked, though Curtis Jones performed well in the second half midweek. Diogo Jota will hope to keep his place up top.

Cody Gakpo did really well against West Ham too but he is likely to drop out for Luis Diaz. Mohamed Salah will come back in for Federico Chiesa, who is still working up his match fitness.

As for Wolves, Gary O'Neil said in his pre-match press conference that his squad has been suffering from a sickness bug in the build-up to the game. "Doctor Kai has been busy this week trying to help the lads feel a little bit better," he explained. "Quite a few missed training today, so we'll see how we are tomorrow. I think some lads will struggle for tomorrow.

"But that's not definite, sometimes these things can clear up in 24 hours. Bents took a couple days before he started to feel better. We're hopeful all of the guys will be fine and 100 per cent available, but at this stage it's difficult to give a definitive answer."

Likely Liverpool team vs Wolves: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Jota, Diaz.
