Liam Payne funeral latest: Fans start to leave tributes outside church in heartbreaking scenes

After supporting him in his career, One Direction fans are advocating for in death, as many of them are demanding a permanent memorial to be erected in his honour.

Weeks after , police sources in Argentina declared that the singer's body was to be released to his distraught family, who were able to to the UK this Monday (November 4).

Fans gear up for a final goodbye in Liam's native Wolverhampton and an outpouring of tribunes has already been spotted outside St. Peter's Collegiate Church this Tuesday, as flowers and handwritten messages have been left next to the Lady Wulfrun statue.

Residents living Wolverhampton, a handful of miles away from Birmingham, had already paid their respects to Liam, days after his death, with a candlelit vigil outside of his secondary school, St Peter's Collegiate Academy, but they have now asked for to remember him by.

As of this Tuesday, November 5, a total of 4,654 people have calling on the council to consider building a permanent monument in the West Midlands.

Their appeal page reads: "The recent passing of Liam Payne has touched the hearts of many, not just the unbreakable community of fans, but people worldwide. As individuals who have been profoundly impacted by the loss of this amazing talent, we ask for a permanent structure or mural to be erected in Wolverhampton in his honour." Another petition on Change.org also requested a "global memorial" in Liam's honour to "unite One Direction fans.

Liam Payne was holidaying in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy when he fell from the third floor of the Casa Sur hotel. Police, who had been summoned over reports of a man acting aggressively in the hotel in the afternoon of October 16, arrived on the scene with firefighters and ambulances, all of which were seen outside the venue.

in an internal patio of the hotel and a partial autopsy revealed that in his system at the time of his death, including "pink cocaine" - a mix of several substances such as methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA and others - cocaine, benzodiazepine and crack.

In a press release, The Argentina National Prosecutor’s Office shared more details of the autopsy, stating Liam had died of "polytrauma and internal and external bleeding", he sustained after falling from the balcony. Forensic experts found 25 injuries "compatible with those produced by a fall from height."

Shortly after his passing, Liam's family broke their silence in a gut-wrenching statement: "We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we'll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul."
