Jake Paul makes unlikely claim about preparation for Mike Tyson fight

Jake Paul has sensationally revealed that he is sparring 300lb fighters ahead of his showdown with former heavyweight champion .

The two boxing stars were supposed to go head-to-head in the ring earlier this year, however, Tyson was after suffering an ulcer flare up. The icon was advised to stop training, but has since returned to the gym and insists he will be fit to face 'The Problem Child' next month.

While many have criticised the decision to go ahead with the bout, the showdown between the pair is due to take place in front of up to 90,000 fans. It will be recognised as a professional outing and will take place in the heavyweight division.

Tyson hung up the gloves back in 2005 after suffering a defeat to Kevin McBride. He did, however, decide to return to the ring four years ago and face boxing icon Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition bout. As for Paul, the youngster has taken the sport by storm following his debut in 2020. In his career so far, 'The Problem Child' has defeated the likes of Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz. His only defeat came last year.

With the fight just a few weeks away, Paul has made a stunning admission. The social media star has revealed that he's sparring 300lb guys in preparation for the clash with 'Iron Mike'. In an , he said: "It's been going amazing. Intense camp. I'm sparring 300lb guys back-to-back. So my body is aching, my bones are sore. They punch a lot harder and just wrestling with them in the ring and sparring is very difficult, but on November 15 I'm going to be prepared. We've trained hard to make the fight easy."

Ahead of the original date earlier this year, the 27-year-old was walking around at 230 pounds - which is significantly heavier that what he's used to. Speaking on his podcast back in May, 'The Problem Child' said: "Normally I'm fighting at 200 and walking around at 210. It's to me that I'm weighing 230." He also hinted at the possibility of gaining up to 240 pounds during his training period for the bout.

That said, this time around, the 27-year-old has revealed his intentions to weigh a little lighter ahead of next month's heavyweight clash. In an interview with the , when asked about his weight, Paul revealed that he is currently weighing around 216 pounds and expects to be 220 on the day of the fight. He also admitted that . “Tyson will probably be 235", he said.

'The Problem Child' has watched hours of tape to study Tyson’s previous fights and believes he will try “to trap me on the ropes and then get blows off to angles on each side.” When , Paul replied: “To just box on the outside and then use my footwork to be more agile and get him chasing me and then attack him when he’s out of position. That should frustrate him.”
