ITV Grace viewers outraged by 'disturbing' scenes and threaten to stop watching

Viewers of ITV crime drama Grace were left with a common complaint after tuning into the latest episode on Sunday (September 15) evening.

The third instalment of the new series saw Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, played by John Simm, and the team investigating the disappearance of a young girl named Logan Somerville.

The case took a disturbing turn when workmen in central Brighton unearthed skeletal remains, throwing Grace and Branson into their most high-profile case yet. Meanwhile, across the city, Logan was abducted in broad daylight, leaving no witnesses or signs of her abductor.

As Grace began to suspect the victim's fiance, viewers watched as Logan was held captive in a dark, coffin-like box. The unsettling scenes prompted a flurry of reactions on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

One viewer tweeted: "#grace way too gruesome for 8.20 on a #Sunday night this is after the #watershed stuff." Another commented: "Blimey this is a bit grim for a Sunday night lads #Grace.", reports the Express.

Others threatened to switch off, with one saying: "#grace I'm going to have to turn it off." Another added: "Too disturbing. Off #grace." A fifth viewer wrote: "#grace F**k this. It's too horrific for words." A sixth user chimed in: "I'm no prude, but this is a bit grim for the 8-9pm pre-watershed hour. #Grace."

However, before the latest instalment hit the screens, ITV's voiceover issued a caution to viewers, stating: "With some scenes of violence now on ITV1 a case that could possibly be the most disturbing yet for DS Grace."

Set in the seaside city of Brighton and Hove, Grace centres around Detective Sergeant Roy Grace, a man dogged by the mystery surrounding his late wife as he tackles various complex cases.

The series is an adaptation of Peter James' critically acclaimed Roy Grace novels and has reached its fourth season, with anticipation building for the fifth series set to air next year.
