Asked further if he had received Lampard’s CV in response to the vacancy, King then nodded his head as per . Further explaining the club’s recruitment process, he said: “We have a good idea, myself, Dean Austin and Dr Claire-Marie Roberts.
“I have been doing a lot of things at this football club over the last two years as executive chairman. I have great people around me and hopefully I will make the right call.
“Listen, there’s a lot of interest in this job, believe you me. This is a top, high quality football club with a great squad and a really good set-up at Ryton. We’re an attractive proposition for a head coach.”
