Frank Lampard's chance of returning to management suffers blow as club owner speaks out

Coventry City chief Doug King has NOT held talks with despite links with the side.

Ex- , and boss Lampard has been linked with a move to the CBS Arena. But it appears that the club’s owner has yet to open talks with the legendary former midfielder.

Speaking at a fans’ forum, King said: “I have not spoken to Frank Lampard and Frank Lampard has not spoken to me. Make of that what you will.”

Asked further if he had received Lampard’s CV in response to the vacancy, King then nodded his head as per . Further explaining the club’s recruitment process, he said: “We have a good idea, myself, Dean Austin and Dr Claire-Marie Roberts.

“I have been doing a lot of things at this football club over the last two years as executive chairman. I have great people around me and hopefully I will make the right call.

“Listen, there’s a lot of interest in this job, believe you me. This is a top, high quality football club with a great squad and a really good set-up at Ryton. We’re an attractive proposition for a head coach.”

Lampard has been linked with a clutch of roles since leaving Chelsea, the most recent of which The Italian side are looking for a new manager following the exit of Ivan Juric.

Lampard revealed in the summer that he was on the hunt for the right job. He said: “I am ready to work. When it feels the right opportunity comes, whether its my end or someone wants to give me that opportunity, I think I am pretty well-versed to understand what that is.

"Because I have had difficult jobs. When I went into Derby, we had FFP problems, we managed to give to a play-off final. All great experiences.

"At Chelsea, I went in with a transfer ban, at Everton, obviously the issues there. So I have taken on challenges. So probably now is the right time to find the right challenges with the right job, the right support and expectations around it."
