Enzo Maresca's 'crazy' Chelsea problem vs Liverpool after Cole Palmer update

Harry Redknapp is concerned about where Chelsea's goals will come from without Cole Palmer. And the former West Ham and Tottenham manager reckons that is 'crazy' given the club's spending in recent seasons.

The Blues take on Liverpool on Saturday evening, and both teams will attempt to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.

Enzo Maresca must undertake that task without talismanic figure Palmer. The club are set to have a meeting over his condition, with a groin issue still plaguing the England star.

Redknapp, 78, is predicting a 2-1 win for Stamford Bridge's visitors, with concerns about Chelsea's abilities without Palmer.

He has not been convinced by Maresca's men this season, while the ex-Spurs boss does not believe the Reds are in full flow just yet either.

"Another massive one," Redknapp told football betting site BetVictor. "Chelsea are just such a strange side at the minute. Even the games they’ve been winning have hardly been convincing, Benfica had chances the other night.

"If Cole Palmer is out, I really worry where the goals come from in this side which is crazy considering how much money they’ve spent on it!

"As for Liverpool, the performances have caught up with them in the last week. I just think Arne Slot will want to get to the break, regroup and figure some things out because they haven’t really looked right all season.

"Despite losing their last two away games, I’m still going for the champions."

In his press conference, Maresca confirmed on Friday: "Cole (Palmer) is still out.

"Trevoh is also suspended [after receiving a red card against Brighton], and we have seven or eight players out for tomorrow's game.

"I don't have any update at the moment [on Palmer]. We have a meeting this week to see how he is and we will then decide [whether he can return after the international break]."

Palmer has only contributed two goals this season, while new signing Joao Pedro has offered five goal contributions and £106.7million signing Enzo Fernandez has made four.

The west London side have netted 11 times in six Premier League outings but five of those came against West Ham, a match Palmer was not involved in.

The ex-Manchester City star has been Chelsea's leading goalscorer across the previous two seasons, however. Palmer has recorded 66 goal contributions across the previous two terms.
