Ederson came so close to securing Atalanta an opening Champions League win over Arsenal as he sent a transfer reminder to Liverpool ahead of January.
The Brazilian midfielder enjoyed a fine campaign with the Italian club last season, leading to him being linked with a move to Anfield during the summer transfer window. Despite the Reds targeting a new No.6, as made evident by their pursuit of Martin Zubimendi, nothing materialized from the links with Ederson, who stayed put in Bergamo.
He may well have caught the eye of Richard Hughes and Arne Slot with his performance against Arsenal on Thursday though. Thanks in no small part to Ederson’s efforts, Mikel Arteta’s players were restricted to very little as they were held to a goalless draw in Italy.

And it could have been so much more for the hosts, again with Ederson the architect as he won a penalty just after the break after being dragged down by Thomas Partey. Mateo Retegui though could not provide the all-important moment as his weak penalty was saved by David Raya, before the Arsenal goalkeeper produced a superb second save to deny Retegui again on the rebound.
Ederson though will certainly have earned a lot more admirers for his performance. Although Ryan Gravenberch has shone so far this season for Liverpool, the Reds may well continue their search for a new No.6 in January, with the Brazilian looking like a good option.
Speaking about his future during the summer, Ederson told AS: "I am very happy at Atalanta. I just won a great title, I am very well-integrated. My future is something that doesn't worry me. Rumours are one thing that, as my wife and I often say, will always pass. We are calm and happy, we enjoy the moment.
"If there has to be some kind of change, I trust my agents. I have an agent who has been with me for over 13 years, so the moment he thinks something positive is going to happen, he will tell me and we are in contact about that."
Liverpool.com says: Ederson certainly looks like a player who could make another step up from Atalanta, as he’s demonstrated perfectly over the last year or so. Much like Teun Koopmeiners, who secured a move to Juventus during the summer, you’d imagine he will get another big move at some stage. If Liverpool is still searching for a No.6 next year, there’s no reason why his name shouldn’t be under consideration.
