Last night mega pop star performed at the in London. The prestigious Royal Albert Hall had held many world known artists over the years such as , , and more.
Dua Lipa, 29, made her debut at the RAH alongside a 53-piece orchestra (The Heritage Orchestra) conducted by Ben Foster, a 14-piece choir, and seven piece band for her exceptional set.
She joked with the crowd, discussing world icons whose graced the much adored stage, commenting on the likes of Winston Churchill, Charles de Gaulle, Albert Einstein. "But I bet none of them had a dress as nice as this," she scoffed to a series of laughs.
As a pop star it’s not common to work with such a love band and there can be some moments where the orchestra almost outsides the artist. But, Dua proved her talent by controlling the music and allowing herself not to be swamped by the deep chords.
The ‘Break My Heart’ singer entered the iconic stage to a standing ovation in a red, satin gown with a slit tight down the thigh to match her red sleek heels. Her hair, recently dyed back Black for the special night, was slicked back to the side to comment on the night of ‘dress to impress.’
Some of the songs off her recent album, Radical optimism, such as ‘French Exit’, ‘Anything For Love’, ‘End Of An Era’, and ‘Maria’ was the first time she performed them live to an audience over more than 500 people.
The whole night was filmed especially for an upcoming TV show special where those are able to dance the night away right in their living rooms and Dua exceeded the crowds expectation when she did a swift outfit change into a Black gown to perform her duet Cold Heart with none other than .
John was met with a series of screams and applause as he emerged from the choir to grace the stage. John in a chic red suit with a dazzling earring to a full room of fans shocked at his presence.
From the top of their lungs the crowd belted out the words to some of her most iconic songs such as ‘Levitating’ and ‘Love again,’ sometimes even outshining the orchestra.
The Royal Albert Hall is not just any venue for a concert, the audience here are so close to the stage that all they need to do is reach out to touch the star. But Dua welcomed the short distance, waving at the crowd, interacting with young children who excitedly waved in their Dua Lipa merch.
The night wasn’t close to being over before Dua showcased her number one single ‘Dance the Night’ from the hit movie Barbie. Dua was joined by her dancers who performed the choreography from the oscar award winning move, for the first time.
The star has been on a hit run from her 2020 album ‘Future Nostalgia’ and has continued her streak of hit songs like ‘Houdini’ that will continue her reign in the world of pop for a bit longer.
If her upcoming tour for 'Radical Optimism,' which kicks off next month from Singapore is anything like the crowd yesterday, filled with parents, children, friends and work colleagues, then the star is in for an exciting season.
