has been forced to seek medical advice after sustaining an injury during training.

, 47, is set to take to the dancefloor on Saturday with professional dance partner Dianne Buswell, as the duo will perform an emotional waltz to the Liverpool anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone. However, Chris revealed he has been seen by the Strictly physio team ahead of this weekend’s live show as he’s managed to sprain his wrist.

In an op-ed for , Chris described the week he’s had so far during the intense training sessions with Aussie dancer Dianne, and complained that last week, he performed an impressive salsa - which scored the couple 30 points - he was actually suffering from a “horrible stinking cold”. Chris joked that he had mentioned he felt ill to Dianne “several times an hour”, and the 35-year-old had reprimanded the star for “moaning”.

“I would simply say that I was keeping her up-to-date with what my body was telling me – and my body was moaning,” Chris quipped. He admitted he was feeling “particularly bunged up on Friday and Saturday”, and even performed on the live show “struggling to breathe through my nose”, as he joked he would have “suffocated” if he’d been forced to close his mouth during the dance.

However, fans were dismayed to learn that the funnyman has become the latest celeb to fall victim to the string of injuries sustained on Strictly this year, and he even injured Dianne during rehearsals after forgetting he had a sprained wrist. “As sprains go, it was a mild one and I was deemed fit to dance by the Strictly physio, but I needed to wear a wrist support,” Chris explained. “On the Thursday I did actually forget to put this wrist support on and ended up dropping poor Dianne in a rather unflattering heap on the floor. Sorry Dianne.”

The couple will be hoping to improve on their salsa this week, and Chris discussed performing the waltz to You’ll Never Walk Alone, as he confused he was worried he would upset Liverpool fans. “Everyone has a connection to the song so you don't want it to be rubbish,” he told It Takes Two host Fleur East. “If we can do something that Liverpool fans like, I have done it well. If we can do something that Everton and fans like, we have worked a miracle!”

Fans were left in tears following Chris’ surprise admission that he hugs Dianne at the end of every dance to stop him from crying. “I hug you so tight at the end so that I can make sure I'm not going to cry on telly. The relief of getting through it then for you to be so ecstatic at the end and the audience reaction to it. It's a lot and my little lip wobbles. I gave you a hug and I held on until I knew I could speak,” he sweetly shared, as he admitted “the people's support is overwhelming”.
