Arne Slot response speaks volumes after Mohamed Salah contract question

Arne Slot couldn't help once more about

Having found the back of the net five times in nine outings across all competitions since Slot took the reins, Salah has certainly shone. Yet, with his current deal expiring at season's end and the 32-year-old commenting recently that contract conversations haven't kicked off, it's been a recurring theme in Slot's press interactions.

The Dutch coach has consistently played his cards close to his chest throughout the discussions, preferring to keep such details within the club's Anfield walls.

Eager to steer away from the chatter ahead of an international break intermission, Slot sought to sidestep any further contract talk in a pre-match media briefing ahead of Saturday's jaunt to Crystal Palace.

Slot replied with a smile: "Contracts?! (laughs) I was hoping in your last question that you didn't use the word 'contract' because I was saying 'Trent is doing like this and he is doing like this...'. It's the same boring answer as always.", reports .

"I could really understand if you ask me this once every two weeks but if you ask me this after two or three days again then you still get the same answer and people feel that I'm boring them! So, try it after the international break again!".

Slot's stance is crystal clear he's eager to hold onto Salah, who hit the net most recently during the clash against Bologna midweek.

"What can I say about Mo? What you saw today is what you get. If you bring him often enough in positions like this, he can score a goal. He had a great assist as well. I think before Wolves, Mo played three games without scoring a goal," Slot said.

"In football it can happen that sometimes in three games you score one or you don't score. But these players, like Mo, like Darwin, like all the others, they will always score their goals if you just keep playing them the thing is, I can't play them all! ".

"But it's good to have them and they will always score their goals. Mo has done really well today and I am happy with what he does at the moment. I am not looking forward to next season as long as we have six group games to play and hopefully many others to come afterwards."
