Ariana Grande slams 'less accurate' media portrayal of boyfriend Ethan Slater

Send Push

Ariana Grande isn't ready to bid farewell to her new love interest just yet.

The pop sensation sparked romance with her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater after ending things with her former flame, Dalton Gomez, back in July the previous year. But there was a twist neither Ariana nor Ethan were single in the eyes of the law at the time; she wasnt officially divorced from Dalton, nor was he from his high school love Lilly Jay.

Their budding romance didn't escape controversy, with whispers suggesting it all began on a note of infidelity. Yet, the Grammy-winning artist has had enough of the negative chit-chat sullying her sweethearts name.

Airing her grievances in a Vanity Fair piece recently, Ariana expressed her frustrations about the public's judgment. "The most disappointing part was to see so many people believe the worst version of it," the singer remarked.

"There couldn't be a less accurate depiction of a human being than the one that the tabloids spread about him," she went on. "No one on this earth tries harder or spreads themselves thinner to be there for the people that he loves and cares about."

The pair first crossed paths while working on the much-anticipated film adapted from the acclaimed stage musical, Wicked, where Ariana is cast as Glinda the Good Witch and Ethan stars as Boq, reports the Mirror US.

While Ariana legally closed the chapter with her ex last year, it wasn't until this month that Ethan's separation from Lilly Jay was set in stone. The duo initially got together in 2012 and walked down the aisle in November 2018.

Pop sensation Ariana has recently faced some heat with fans dubbing her a "homewrecker," after getting cosy with Ethan, who shares a son with Lilly Jay, born in August 2022. She appears to clap back at the critics with her latest banger from the album Eternal Sunshine.

The track titled "yes, and? " seems to throw shade at the public's fascination with her love life, although she hasn't confirmed if it's directly about her involvement with Ethan, but she did say it "touched on things that are real and then pieces of it were part of the concept."

Ariana isn't new to the media's relationship radar; she's got a history of dating big names, including rappers Mac Miller and Big Sean, and was briefly engaged to funny man Pete Davidson.
